    About Double S

The Double S is a small single bedroom cabin of 640 sq. ft., not counting an additional loft space of 182 sq. ft. Note that the loft is accessible by ladder, not stairs. The loft covers half of the ground floor of this plan, and opens into a vaulted ceiling over the living room, the dining area, and most of the kitchen space. This makes the loft highly useful as a climate controlled storage space.

The Double S is one of several plans in the Satterwhite Compact Cabin series. This home lacks attic space, and requires spray foam insulation to achieve year-round energy efficiency expected of a modern residence. Named for the Double S Ranch, the Satterwhite family homeplace in Texas since the late 1800s, this plan was known in older Satterwhite plan books as the “Salado 3.”
