We freely admit the Caddo is the most mispronounced floor plan name in the Satterwhite catalog. Put that down to the word’s native origins in the language of our local indigenous people, known as the Caddoan Mississippian culture, who thrived building large earthen structures during a period of about 800 to 1400 in the common era. Remnants of the Caddo people continue today, with the tribe headquartered in nearby Binger, Oklahoma.
The Satterwhite floor plan named in their honor features a vaulted family room, dining area, and kitchen, plus two bedrooms and one bath on a single main level. Interior living space is 1,200 sq. ft., with an additional 480 sq. ft. of porches under roof providing protection for log walls and extending maintenance intervals. This classic Satterwhite design continues in popularity today.
Depending on how it is oriented on your property, we advise you consider the addition of full wrap-around porches if there is significant exposure to solar UV radiation on either of the gable ends that are otherwise unprotected, especially if direct sunlight occurs on a south or a west wood wall exposure.
